A friend of mine recently opened up a conversation online with me with the following:
It’s about military shooter videogames. I think they are creating a warmongering conscience in the new and impressionable generations.
Which was great, because I love debunking this stuff.
I grew up playing military shooters. I cut my teeth on Counterstrike. I have shot and bombed and knifed and generally been a homicidal asshole to hundreds of thousands of people. Not only that, but I have maimed many civilians and killed countless more, destroyed buildings and priceless natural wonders. I’ve invaded and conquered civilizations, and – in extreme cases – glassed entire planets.
Somehow, I still manage to catch the 88 bus to work in the morning without curbstomping the postman.
